Preventative Maintenance
Many things can be done to prevent foundation damage. Minor maintenance now can prevent costly repairs in the future.
- Properly grade your landscaping to slope away from your home at a positive 6% angle (or a drop of 6 inches in 8 feet).
- Manage the wetness of your foundation, providing adequate drainage during wet times and adding moisture during dry spells.
- Make sure your gutters are properly installed and cleaned to allow easy passage of water away from your home.
- Watch for the warning signs of foundation failure. For information on warning signs please click here. Sticky doors and windows and cracks in walls are early indicators of larger problems to follow without proper care.
