Warning Signs of Foundation Failure

There are several warning signs that there may be a problem with your foundation. Walk around the inside and outside of your building and look for indications of foundation problems:

  • Cracks in drywall
  • Doors and windows stick
  • Spacing between a door or window and its frame is inconsistent
  • Floors slope
  • Cracks in the floor or tile
  • Basement floor is sunken
  • Basement leaks
  • Stair step cracks between bricks
  • Gaps between brick and window or wall frames
  • Foundation wall cracks
